Precious thoughts of Jagadguru #SriSri #Chandrashekara Bharathi Mahaswamiji on a prime function of the Guru

Sri Jagadguru had started for Kalaty from Bangalore after a long stay. A devotee started to shed bitter tears and when queried by Sri Jagadguru, he said that he would now be denied of the Gurudarshana which he had enjoyed for many months. Sri Jagadguru asked him who that Guru was. When told that it was Sri Jagadguru Himself, He smiled and said that if that was the case He was not fit to be a Guru. After listening to Him for six to seven months, if the devotee could not learn beyond identifying the Guru with His body, Sri Jagadguru said, that He was a poor preceptor. The function of the Guru, He maintained, was to divest the disciple of the necessity of a Guru and not make him dependent on him always.
