Since time immemorial, works have been written in Sanskrit to spread knowledge on various subjects. One has to try and imagine the importance and efficacy of Sanskrit for us. There are a lot of words in Sanskrit which simply cannot be translated accurately into other languages. This makes the transmission of the original intent of the author impossible through any other language. At this crucial juncture where we are witnessing a rapid rise in instances of 'misunderstanding & misinterpretation' which is, in turn, fueling propaganda against certain tenets of Sanatana Dharma it is even more crucial and a duty of every Astika to develop a sound knowledge of Sanskrit – the language of our Shastras.
For instance, the Vedic Statement न तस्य प्रतिमा अस्ति.. has been translated by certain sections as "There is no image of him" & this is often used to rebuke followers of Sanatana Dharma that "Even though you claim to worship the Vedas as the final authority, you are worshipping imagery of Gods & Goddess all the time against its Dictum". Those with a good knowledge of Sanskrit can readily appreciate that the purport of the statement is in-fact "There is none EQUAL to God"!

Hence a serious interest to learn the language must be nurtured followed by actually making sustained efforts to learn the same.
