In the 16th Chapter of the Bhagavadgita, Lord Krishna says – “दैवी सम्पद्विमोक्षाय निबन्धायासुरी मता।“, i.e., “Divine qualities (daivi sampat) lead to liberation, while demonic qualities (āsuri sampat) lead to bondage”.

Daivi sampat refers to good qualities and āsuri sampat refers to bad qualities. One should understand what is right, and do it with courage and conviction; with a pure mind, without ego, malicious intent and deceit. This would be the essence of daivi sampat. Avoid greed, hatred, ego, jealousy and dishonesty. These are āsuri sampat. When someone succeeds, do not feel jealous and try to pull him down. On the contrary, feel happy about the other person’s success and try to cooperate with him and emulate him. This is daivi sampat. If you stop the good work being done by him, everybody suffers. This is āsuri sampat.

This is the very essence of Mahabharata too. Dharmaraja had daivi sampat. Duryodhana inculcated āsuri sampat. The message is that we have to be like Dharmaraja and not like Duryodhana. All the shastras too emphasize on the same. We have to therefore develop daivi sampat and avoid āsuri sampat.
