Inspired to place here a few anecdotes & quotes from Jagadgurus based on a comment by one of our patrons on how untiringly Jagadgurus go on Yatras:

You have all seen visuals from Last month’s Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji’s trek to Narasimha Parvatha(A sacred hill between Kudurumkukha National Park & Agumbe Rain forest). His Holiness trekked in peak summer & camped in the hill-forest with zero facilities. It is uninhabited with the nearest house being several hours of Walk away. Trek to the top takes about 2 to 4 hours. On the second day after an arduous trek back to Kigga-Sringeri, HH had other Dharmic events & a Paada Puja to attend to. HH’s routine day begins at 4 AM, & on that day HH had additional strain from the trek. In spite of all this HH walked straight to Guru Nivasa for the evening Darshan without any (after offering Friday prayers to Sharadamba). There appeared to be no evidence whatsoever from His Radiating Face of any kind of fatigue or discomfort. Similar to this has been the observation of thousands of devotees during all the Yatras where Jagadgurus visit village after village, town after town, temple after temple from early morning right till near midnight without missing any Anushtanam.

Once a few months after the anointment of Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji as the successor, there was a packed schedule at the mutt & HH apparently woke up a few minutes later than 4 AM. His Guru came near Him around 5 AM & remarked about all the extra learning / Anushtanams that He could have carried out in those extra few minutes!

The below two are from The Multifacated Jivanmukta:
When His Holiness told me this is in August 1989, a month prior to His shedding His body, I asked Him, “Over the years, has intense anger, worry or grief appeared in Your Holiness’s mind, unaccompanied, even for a while, by the awareness of its falsity.” His Holiness responded, “No, never. Even during excruciating pain, there has been the clear awareness that it pertains only to the illusory mind and that I am the changeless witness of the nature of pure consciousness. All this is solely due to the grace of my Guru and God. Else, where was the question of even one so ordinary as I becoming unswervingly established in Brahman and functioning in the world as I was directed to do by my Guru?”

“My Guru used to apply some dry vibhūti on His forehead even before He went for His morning bath. Never have I known Him to remove or adjust His upper garment even if it was very hot and He was seated in private. He never moved out of His normal position to near the window to get some breeze on a sultry day. ‘I shall remain where I am. If the wind blows here let it. Else let it not,’ He remarked - Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamiji
