𝐉𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢 𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐣𝐢 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐠𝐨, 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞:

To keep the flame of spiritual longing burning bright and nurture its growth, Shankara Bhagavatpada ordains

सङ्गः सत्सु विधीयतां भगवतो भक्तिर्दृढाऽऽधीयतां . .

May you have satsanga, association with spiritual seekers and wise people as much as possible, and May you resort to an intense devotion to god.

The company we keep dictates the nature of our character. Have abounding devotion towards God. Our ability, our wisdom, our capacity, is a mere speck in comparison to the ability, wisdom and capacity of God. If His Grace is not there all of our faculties are of no use. His guidance is constantly needed by us. That is why we should have steadfast devotion and faith in the Lord. We should kill our EGO. Ego is the surest path towards our destruction. It is the same Ego which destroyed great demons like Hiranyakasipu. He revelled in egoistic behaviour. He considered himself supreme and above God. When his son Prahlada uttered नारायणायनमः, he chided him "Who is that Narayana. There is no one greater than me. Don't take his name. Instead, chant my name हिरण्यायनमः" We all know the result of this personification of Ego. Bhagawan assumed the form of Nrisimha and killed him. Therefore. Hiranyakasipu is a striking example to show that man's destruction is surely brought about by his EGO. We should. therefore, never forget to chant the name of God, even for a moment. Bhagawan is the Generator, Sustainer and Destroyer of this creation. He is the Supreme One and a constant witness, who watches all our actions. That very God is permanently seated in our hearts.
