Sanskrit is the mother of all our languages. It would therefore be a great mistake if we were to ignore Sanskrit or develop a feeling of disregard towards it. We should have utmost devotion, respect and love towards Sanskrit. All our ancient knowledge and wisdom was originally documented in Sanskrit. #Ramayana was first written in Sanskrit by Maharshi #Valmiki. Later, it was rewritten in various other languages. #Bhagavadgita was delivered by Lord Krishna and was first written in Sanskrit by #Veda #Vyasa. Only later was it translated into other languages. Therefore, Sanskrit is very important and everyone should learn Sanskrit to gain access to the roots of our culture and scriptures.
We should not say that we are old, and therefore cannot learn. It is said in the shastras (Knowledge has to be sought by the wise even if the years in which one usually seeks education has elapsed)
Therefore, regardless of age, one should pursue the study of Sanskrit, never admitting impossibility. For where there is effort, possibility thrives; where there is none, possibility fades. Thus, the endeavour must be made. Sanskrit is also a very pleasant and mellifluous language. Therefore, it is said โ โbhฤลฤsu ramyฤ gairvฤแนฤซโ เคญเคพเคทเคพเคธเฅ เคฐเคฎเฅเคฏเคพ เคเฅเคฐเฅเคตเคพเคฃเฅ (Sanskrit is divine and delightful among languages)
Several eminent personages including kings and emperors have not only provided patronage to Sanskrit, but also composed works in Sanskrit themselves. Champu Ramayana was written by Bhoja Maharaja. Though there were many great scholars in his court, he had such love for Sanskrit that he himself wrote the Ramayana in the very smooth-flowing Champu style.
Many foreigners take a lot of interest and learn Sanskrit and also try to speak in Sanskrit. Many of them translate scholarly works in Sanskrit. For this, they have to be exceptionally good at the language. Given that many foreigners have such profound love, interest and enthusiasm towards Sanskrit, it would be a great blunder for us to ignore it, as it is like our own mother tongue.
