There is a misconception that it is enough if one prioritizes God and spirituality during old age, after fulfilling all other worldly responsibilities. After all, where is the time for God during youth, when one is busy chasing materialistic milestones and discharging duties? Some believe visiting temples and undertaking worship in the form of pลซja, pฤrฤyaแนa, japa, etc., are for old age; but this cannot be further from the truth.

It is however true that during old age; one should detach even further from the worldly, and devote oneself more and more to the Divine. However, sadly, many seniors continue to worry about children and grandchildren, instead of letting the younger generation manage their own affairs. As Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada rightly noted โ โvแนddhastฤvat chintฤsaktaแธฅโ (เคตเฅเคฆเฅเคงเคธเฅเคคเคพเคตเคคเฅ เคเคฟเคจเฅเคคเคพเคธเคเฅเคคเค) โ old age is spent in worrying.
At the same time, it is equally foolish to believe that Godly pursuit is unimportant during youth. If ฤdhyฤtma was only required during old age, Shri Krishna would not have delivered the Bhagavadgita to Arjuna during the battle of Kurukshetra, but post-battle upon his retirement! Krishnaโs ฤdhyฤtmika upadรฉแนฃa (spiritual counsel) was necessary to clear Arjunaโs mental turmoil, and make him realise that his foremost duty was to fight the battle, in order to uphold dharma. If Arjuna had the required understanding beforehand; there would have been no room for his dilemma.
A connection with the Divine is a lifelong necessity, especially during youth. Buffeted by the relentless waves of expectation, ambition, and duty, a youthful heart craves an anchor, a source of strength and clarity. Vedanta becomes the lighthouse, guiding us through towards a fulfilling life. Faith in the Divine can help show the way through the complexities of life and aid in manoeuvring through it.
